What does the Port of Los Angeles cost?

This is one of the City's three proprietary departments. It is funded by its own revenue, and its budget is adopted by its own board of commissioners rather than in the City's adopted budget. The Controller's budget data records no adopted amount for it, and its payments fall outside the checkbook's outside-vendor scope, so this page shows its payroll: in pay year 2025 it had 851 full-time employees with active status, and paid $155.2M to everyone on its payroll.

“Full-time employees with active status” counts distinct people whose full-time job was active when the Controller extracted the data, the measure the payroll page uses. “Everyone paid” also counts part-time, seasonal and per-event workers and people who left during the year. Total and overtime pay cover everyone paid. “Pay per full-time employee” is those employees' total pay divided by their number. Pay excludes the City's pension and benefit contributions.
